Why we offer our Fresh Menus in glass jars

Thanks to gentle preparation and preservation in glass, our Fresh Menus go far beyond conventional canned food: nutrients are preserved, artificial binders are unnecessary, and there are no metal or plastic residues. The menus also smell fresh and appetising, without any of that unpleasant canned-food odour.

Instead of being packed in metal cans, our menus are preserved in glass jars. Through gentle steam cooking, the meat pieces and nutrients are retained, completely without binders. The result is a meal that smells fresh, is healthy and doesn't taste like "canned food".

Glass has plenty of other advantages too: it leaves no residues like cans can, the jars are resealable, and opened portions don't fill your fridge with unpleasant smells. It's the same reason so much baby food comes in glass jars.

Everything you need to know about how our Fresh Menus are made, stored and served.

What makes the Fresh Menus in glass jars special?

Our menus are gently steam-cooked and then sterilised in glass jars. This helps preserve vitamins and flavour, without artificial binders, preservatives or the residues you can get from metal cans.

Are Fidelis Fresh Menus nutritionally complete?

Yes. All our Fresh Menus are complete meals designed to cover the daily nutritional needs of an average dog.

We still recommend a varied diet, as no two dogs are the same. Rotating between different meats, vegetables and menus supports a natural, balanced nutrient supply and adds more variety and flavour to your dog's bowl.

How do I prepare it?

Simply open the jar, spoon it into the bowl and serve at room temperature. No cooking required.

Why glass instead of cans?

Glass is taste-neutral, doesn't release metal or coating residues, and is resealable and recyclable. The menus also smell fresh, without the typical canned-food odour.

How long do the menus last?

Unopened, the menus keep in a cool, dry cupboard for up to 12 months thanks to gentle preservation in glass. You'll find the exact best-before date on the lid.

How should I store opened jars?

Reseal the jar, keep it in the fridge and use the contents within 3–4 days. Because it's glass, there are no unpleasant smells in the fridge.

How is shipping handled?

The jars are shipped in special protective packaging with our courier, InPost, so they arrive safely. Order before 2pm, Monday to Friday, and we aim to dispatch the same day.

How much food does my dog need?

As a starting point, feed about 2–3% of body weight a day for dogs up to 15kg and 2–2.5% for dogs over 15kg. For example, a 20kg dog needs about 400–500g a day, which is around one jar.

How long does the switch to Fresh Menus take?

Switch gradually over 5–7 days, mixing a little more Fresh Menu into your dog's usual food each day. This gives your dog's digestion time to adjust to the new food.
